Installation & Break-In:
Always have your exhaust installed by a qualified technician to ensure correct fitment and clearance. During the first 100–200 miles, avoid aggressive driving to allow heat cycles to properly “season” the exhaust. After the first few drives, re-torque all fasteners to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Cleaning & Appearance:
Regular cleaning prevents corrosion and discoloration. Wash with mild car shampoo and water, and avoid harsh chemicals or acidic cleaners. For stainless steel systems, use a non-abrasive metal polish to restore shine. For black-coated or ceramic finishes, use a soft microfiber towel and pH-neutral soap only, as abrasives may damage the coating. Never attempt to clean the exhaust while it is hot; always allow it to cool completely first.
Heat & Discoloration :
Stainless steel naturally changes color (developing gold or blue tones) under high heat. This is a normal process and does not affect performance. To minimize discoloration, keep the exhaust clean and free of road salts or chemicals.
Driving & Usage:
Avoid driving through deep standing water, as rapid cooling of hot exhaust metal may cause warping or cracking. If the vehicle will be stored for extended periods, clean the exhaust thoroughly and ensure it is completely dry before storage.
Maintenance & Inspection:
Inspect the exhaust every three to six months, or at each oil change. Look for loose clamps and bolts, worn gaskets, and any signs of leaks or unusual noises. Replace gaskets or hardware with high-temperature rated components only. Ensure hangers and mounts remain in good condition to prevent stress cracks.
Important Notes:
Performance exhaust systems are louder than OEM parts, so always comply with local noise and emissions regulations. Running excessively rich fuel mixtures or allowing engine misfires can damage the exhaust and void warranty coverage. Do not modify, cut, or weld the exhaust unless directed by CB Performance, as this may compromise fitment and durability.
